Week 6 Laboratory Module 6 Respiratory Functions A Activity Part A Part B Part C Deliverable Data Collection—Respiratory Volumes (raw data on page 6) and summary data sheet on page 13 Data Analysis—Respiratory Volumes and biophysical data Critical Thinking Report (page11 of lab) LABORATORY TOTAL POINTS: Points 10 20 10 40 LABORATORY STEPS PART A: Data Collection—Respiratory Volumes and Biophysical Measurements (~1 hour) 1.0—Read the background pages from the lab manual and review the information found in the textbook related to both the organization of the respiratory system and respiratory volumes. 1.1—Read through all of the steps of the attached laboratory on respiratory volumes. 1.2—Assign the roles of experimental subject, experimenter, coach and technician-recorder to the various members of your research group. 1.3—Collect the data and turn in experimental data; page 6 is the raw data, and page 13 is the summary data sheet that should be submitted to your instructor. 1.4—Rotate roles and collect another data set. LABORATORY STEPS PART B: Data Analysis on Respiratory Volumes and Biophysical Measurements (~ 2 hour) 2.0—Open an Excel file. 2.1—Follow the directions (pages 6 – 10) to obtain the scatter plots, various slopes and R-squared values. 2.2—Save the Excel file and submit it into the Week6 Digital Dropbox. LABORATORY STEPS PART C: Critical Thinking/Analysis Questions on Respiratory Volumes ~ 1 hour 3.0—Complete the critical thinking questions (page 11) and turn them into your instructor.
