WHAT IS CYSTITIS • Inflammation of the bladder. • Causative factor- lower urinary tract infection (UTI) (Cadet, 2018) PATHOPHYSIOLOGY • fecal flora colonize in the urethra and then ascend through the urinary tract into the bladder. • Bacteria’s include: Escherichia Coli (E. Coli), Staphylococcus, Proteus, Candida, Klebsiella, and Enterococcus. • Most common cause: UTI • Other factors: urinary catheterization, sexual intercourse, renal calculi, transplant, prostate enlargement, kidney stones, and urinary obstruction.
