Fluids Wesly Jason Partner(s): Megan Parobek Date Performed: November 1, 2017 Introduction In this lab, we observed fluids dynamics, which is how they behave when subjected to motion, by applying our knowledge of those formal fluids’ principles such as Bernoulli’s and Archimedes’. We also used continuity equation to help us determine, specifically, what happens to a fluid as it flows inside an enclosed pipe with a constriction. Procedure Apparatus: Venturi apparatus, pressure sensors, tubing, computer with interface and Capstone software, air supply with rubber stopper Part I. Fluid Dynamics In this part of the experiment, we used the continuity equation to derive a flow meter equation using just two pressure sensors by means of the Bernoulli’s equation. We then used the apparatus to put the flow meter equation into practice. We started by connecting a rubber tubing to a one side of the venturi to simulate a wider area, and another at the other side to simulate a smaller area. Then two pressure sensors were used to read the pressures from both sides of the venturi. And then we used a graph to interpret the pressures by letting a capstone software plot a pressure vs time data.
