Course Week 8 Reflection
Reflect over the eight weeks spent
in each course and describe how
the achievement of the course
outcomes in that course prepared
you to meet the selected MSN
program outcome and the MSN

NR503
Program Outcome #1: Practice safe,
high-quality advanced nursing care
based on concepts and knowledge from
nursing and related disciplines (MSN
Essential I).
MSN Essential I: Background for
Practice from Sciences and Humanities
Recognizes that the master’s-prepared
nurse integrates scientific findings from
nursing, biopsychosocial fields,
genetics, public health, quality
improvement, and organizational
sciences for the continual improvement
of nursing care across diverse settings.
Professor and Class,
Throughout the last eight weeks I have gained so
much knowledge that I will be able to use in my practice
of being a FNP. As I reflect back on how this course has
prepared me to meet the MSN program outcome #1 and
the MSN Essential I, this course has re-enforced the
importance of using evidence based practices and
working as a team with all those involved with the
healthcare team. Also through this course I have begun
to gain a unique insight into the theory and methods
developed for the epidemiological study and control of
both chronic and infectious disease. This will continue to
grow as I grow as a practitioner and throughout my
career. I have a better understanding about the main
principles for the planning and carrying out of
epidemiological research in clinical and public health
contexts, and for the analysis of data generated in such
research. Through this course I have gained
epidemiological knowledge that renders me as a valuable
partners in the planning and carrying out of
epidemiological research in clinical and public health
contexts. I am able to read and critically evaluate
epidemiological literature including assessment of
research methods, results and the validity of conclusions.
Thank you all for a wonderful session. I look
forward to seeing you in the threads during the next eight
weeks!

Program Outcome #4: Evaluate the
design, implementation, and outcomes
of strategies developed to meet
healthcare needs (MSN Essentials III,
IV, VIII).
Professor and Class,
he study of pathophysiology elicits different
feelings and exposes one to an array of experiences. In
line with the core expected outcome of completing the

MSN Essential VIII: Clinical
Prevention and Population Health for
Improving Health
•Recognizes that the master’s-prepared
nurse applies and integrates broad,
organizational, client-centered, and
culturally appropriate concepts in the
planning, delivery, management, and
evaluation of evidence-based clinical
prevention and population care and
services to individuals, families, and
aggregates/identified populations.

2. Integrates knowledge from the
humanities and sciences within the
context of nursing science.
3. Translates research and other forms of
knowledge to improve practice
processes and outcomes.
4. Develops new practice approaches
based on the integration of research,
theory, and practice knowledge.
required courses for competency in clinical programs, the
course also exposes one to much more with regard to
inherent understanding of the causes of diseases and the
relationship of the mechanisms of an organisms to the
symptoms of the disease. The need to have a selfcorrecting investigatory process in clinical academics is
well addressed since pathophysiology offers a bridge
between the causes, the mechanisms and the outcomes of
different pathogens and diseases. Such link in knowledge
offers a sense of satisfaction and confidence in dealing
with related cases. The course has offered a learning
experience on ways to communicate different issues
regarding pathophysiology through writing, in verbal
communication and multimedia. The course has offered
scientific basis for evaluating whether information
concerning pathophysiology provided is valid. The
lecture experiences and concepts learnt will also increase
the success of choices in clinical problem solving. The
course has also underlined the basis of laboratory tests
and the entire diagnostics procedures hence creating a
correlation between pathophysiology and other health
science programs. Most importantly, it helped understand
in detail how the organ system is interrelated and this
gives one a basis for a holistic approach toward
evaluating and treating patients.Thank you all for a great
session!
