Physics 1062 Report: Lab 6: Ohm’s Law and Capacitance

Date Submitted: 10/17/2016 Lab TA: Jeng-Yuan Tsai Group Members: Introduction The objective of this experiment is to study two concepts; Ohm’s Law and Capacitance. However, both concepts are covered separately. Georg Simon Ohm discovered a fundamental relationship between current, voltage ... , and resistance, three important electrical quantities. The relationship and unit of electrical resistance were both eventually named for him (Ohm). This lab tests the veracity of Ohm’s law in several different components using computer based current and voltage probes. The test uses a single-loop circuit with the only component being the test load (a resistor or light bulb). The voltage applied to this circuit is fixed by a DC power supply. We’ll then look at how altering this applied voltage affects the current through the circuit.
